Description
Hosted by: Montreal’s Polar Bear Club
Some events are ours. Some are simply too interesting not to share.
This Sunday, I’ll be joining a polar plunge at Verdun Beach and extending the invitation to any of our more intrepid members who might want to come along. This is not a Longevity Montréal event, and we are not affiliated with the organizers. I’m simply posting it here as a reminder and an invitation for those who may be curious.
There’s a community in Montréal that has been doing this for about seven years. Every Sunday during the colder months, people gather at 9:00 AM at Verdun Beach and plunge into the icy water together. Despite some recent complications with the city, the activity is still happening in an unofficial capacity through community members.
If that sounds like your kind of thing, you’re welcome to join me.
What to know
This is a cold water immersion activity, so please use your judgment and know your limits. You are welcome to come simply to observe, to socialize, or to decide in the moment whether participation feels right for you.
• This is not hosted by Longevity Montréal
• Gathering time is Sunday at 9:00 AM
• Location is Verdun Beach
• Participation is entirely voluntary and at your own discretion
• Dress warmly before and after, and bring whatever helps you transition comfortably
• A towel, warm clothes, sandals or water shoes, and a hot drink may all be a good idea
• I’ll be going by car, and we can pre-warm the car so that after the plunge we have a place to go warm up right away
• You are welcome to come just to watch, support, and see what it’s all about
A note on the groups
The original Facebook page is still useful for context and background, but it is currently not the main place where updates are happening.

If you browse their recent posts and group activity, you’ll get a feel for what is currently happening and how people are coordinating.
Why I’m sharing this
This is the kind of activity I’d call longevity adjacent. It may not be for everyone, but for those drawn to challenge, discomfort, adaptation, and the occasional wild experience, it may be worth exploring.
If you’d like to come with me, consider this your invitation.
See you there, and if not in the water, maybe beside it.
