What is a longevity community?
It's the question I get more than any other, and it's a fair one. If I said chess club you'd know exactly what I meant, but a longevity community is harder to picture.
Here's what I mean by it. People who want to understand the world around them, their place in it, and how that world is working for them and/or against them.
It's where to go for good information, to distinguish what's worth doing and what's noise. And most importantly, connecting with other people who are also trying their best, because doing this alone is tough, and so many of us go at it alone.
If you know of our humble beginnings as a chapter within Bryan Johnson's Don't Die movement, you'll remember that Longevity Montréal started about four 1/2 years ago because there seemed to be an interest in figuring this whole "healthy living thing" out.
It certainly hasn't been without its trials and tribulations, for example, I (Anrif) have been away for the better part of the past year. Life, health, and general wellness should never be taken for granted. It's in this spirit that Longevity returns to Montreal, and I'd rather do it with a picnic than an announcement.
What to expect
This is a potluck/picnic, so food will of course be part of our day's journey!
Consider bringing something to share if you can. It can be a cultural/favourite dish of yours, and, if cooking isn't your thing no worries, something you bought will do just as nicely!
Now for the fun part. We've got a series of activities prepared, all designed to help us connect with one another, meeting new and familiar faces alike! This will include the guest appearance of a Quebecois tv/comedy personality, who much like the broadcasting company accompanying him will remain anonymous to those not in attendance.
After that it's open for lunch, an opportunity to meet and mingle with one another as we enjoy the fresh air and food.
Later in the afternoon, when people have eaten and slowed down, we'll do a couple of quieter things. Activities such as physical pace of ageing tests, and doctor in our community having offered to take questions.
An important point for disclosure
There will be a film crew there for the duration of our event. A signed release is asked of attending participants (although exceptions can be made, but must be specified ideally before AND day of to ensure your privacy in any final material).
If you'd rather not be filmed at all, tell me beforehand AND when you arrive and we'll keep you out of frame.
If you intend to attend, please contact me via SMS/WhatsApp at (438) 410-1866 or via email at "Anrif.foisy@gmail.com" with your Full Name Email Address for the disclosure form.
Who it's for
Anyone curious about living longer and living better, at any level of seriousness. You don't need a protocol, a wearable, or an opinion about Bryan Johnson. Newcomers are genuinely welcome, and several people coming have been part of this for years, for others its their first time.
To live is a privilege. To live well, even more so.
You are, and always will be, welcome here.
See you Saturday, September 5th
